Thirty years ago, I joined MCA and with the enthusiastic support of the club’s members, decided to build my own woodstrip canoe. A close friend and I built a pair of Guides in a small, dimly lit, cramped garage. To decide who got which boat, we filled a paper bag with a stack of white poker chips, with single blue and red chips, to match a chip placed in the bottom in each boat. Wonderful memories.
This winter, my 15-year old son asked me if I could help him build his own woodstrip canoe. He’s fully committed and understands building takes time, effort and responsibility.
I’m posting to see if any MCA members have a Guide strongback to rent or purchase.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
