What a night! The weather was perfect, and we had an awesome group of paddlers out on Cedar Lake.

A huge thank you to Katie Schaaf for coaching. She did an amazing job breaking down race strategy and helping us practice it. We all learned a ton! 🙌

Thanks also to all the expert paddlers who came out to guide, encourage, and push everyone. Your support makes a huge difference for the rookies each week. 💪

Rookies is cancelled today due to the cold, windy and rainy weather.

MCA has new insurance this year and everyone who participates in Rookies will need to sign a liability waiver. Please sign this before you start paddling at Rookies. It only needs to be signed once/year.

Has is hosting a post-paddle Rookies kickoff party! His place is just five minutes from the Cedar Lake parking lot. On the menu: hamburgers, venison steak, salad, and sparkling water.

Monday Rookies 2025 Season Kickoff!

Join us as we start the 2025 season on May 5th at Cedar Lake! Meet us in the Southwest parking lot at 5:45 PM. The address is 2650 Cedar Lake Parkway, Minneapolis, 55416.

For those new to the program, this is a fantastic opportunity to paddle with expert canoeists and learn from them.

New Format for This Year:

- Each week, a different expert canoeist will be our teacher for the day. They will coach us and help us improve.

- We will conclude each Monday session with a 20-minute canoe race.
