The Canoe Program Coaching team operates out of the Loppet Sport wing of the Loppet Foundation organization, which is a life-long pipeline, helping everyone achieve their potential. The Loppet Foundation’s mission is connecting people to the outdoors through experiences that grow community. We value anti-racism, collaboration, growth, inclusion, play, stewardship and well-being.
Background/expectations:
Moderate experience with canoe performance - additional training can be provided as needed
Good judgment in the case of risk management
Group management/leadership skills
Respectful to all participating and their goals
Ability to follow a curriculum that guides technical and fitness focus
Organization and good communication skills
Emails out to group ahead of practices
Communicate with co-coach
Communication within practice to participants
Works with Paddling Manager to evaluate and improve programming
Pay: $20/hour; pay for coaching hours as well as coordination time
Training requirements: (organization will work with you to acquire these)
Background check
Safesport (renewed every 2 years)
Heads Up concussion training (renewed every 2 years)
First Aid training (annually)
CPR training (every 3 years)
Water Safety
Canoe-specific training
Position open until filled.
Opportunities include:
Trail Kids - Family program: 2 coaches needed
Ages 9-12 and an adult 18+
2x/week for 3 weeks : Mondays/Wednesdays 4:30 - 6 pm (6 total practices)
2 sessions: June 12 - 28; July 10 - 26
Capacity for: 10 participants per program
Location: Cedar/Brownie Lakes
Juniors program: 2 coaches needed
Ages 13-18
6 weeks - focuses on two races:
Thursday, June 29 & July 27 (Hoigaard's Derby races)
1 session: June 12 - July 26 (skip 7/4)
Wednesdays 6:30 - 8 pm
Capacity for: 10 participants per program
Location: Cedar/Brownie Lakes
Adult program: 2 coaches needed
Ages 18+
6 weeks - prepares for a Hoigaard's Derby race on July 27
1 session: June 13 - July 25 (skip 7/4)
Tuesdays 6:30 - 8 pm
Capacity for: 10 participants per program
